FOR SALE ☞ Antique Armand Marseille German Doll – Mold 3200 Bisque Head in Traditional Folk Dress – 12” with Sleep Eyes
DESCRIPTION ☞
Offered here is a beautiful antique bisque head doll made in Germany by Armand Marseille, featuring the less commonly seen mold number 3200. Likely produced between the 1890s and early 1910s, this doll has a delicately painted face with blue glass sleep eyes, an open mouth with teeth, and finely detailed bisque hands. Her original or early mohair wig remains full and styled in a loose, natural way.
The back of her head is marked:
“3200 / A M 9/0 DEP” with “Germany” in cursive script below—an authentic export mark for dolls of this era.
She wears a traditional Alpine or Tyrolean-style folk costume: green felt skirt with red ribbon trim, crisp white blouse with lace detail, apron, and ornate floral metal bodice clasps. Her brown leather shoes are stamped “Matthes” on the soles, a charming historical detail that may indicate either the original outfitter or an early re-dress.
A classic example of continental doll craftsmanship, she’s perfectly suited for display in an antique collection, doll shelf, or European folk art setting.
But now… we must note: While she is a striking antique collectible, this doll carries an unmistakably intense energy. We don't usually believe in truly haunted pieces, but during her time on display in our store, she has exhibited behaviour that’s difficult to explain. Her eyes seem to follow you and she has moved positions overnight occasionally, without anyone touching her. Most notably, three of us saw her being flung - seemingly on her own -from a stable shelf in the middle of the day.
A customer didn't touch her and wasn't interested in her, but had just commented on how “creepy” she looked in passing. Both myself and a staff member agreed. The customer walked away, no one was near her, and a moment later, we all witnessed as the doll came off the shelf like she was yanked by someone... or something. She landed face-up in a nearby chest of linens - completely undamaged, as if trying to prove a point.
Whether it was physics, coincidence, or something else entirely, we’ll let you decide. All we know is this doll is the most unsettling object we've ever had in our store.
For collectors of haunted objects, curiosity cabinets, or simply those with a strong constitution, this is a piece that speaks volumes without ever making a sound.
This doll is sold as an antique collectible with a unique and subjective history. Any perceived activity is anecdotal and not guaranteed. For entertainment purposes only.
