DESCRIPTION ☞
A true piece of British royal history, this rare lithographed tin was produced in 1937 to commemorate the coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth (later the beloved Queen Mother). Made in England by B.W. & M. Ltd (Barringer, Wallis & Manners), renowned for their high-quality printed tinware, this box features stunning sepia-tone illustrations:

Front & back: Fine line portraits of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, signed "Van Dyck"

Sides: Iconic royal residences including Windsor Castle, Balmoral Castle, and Buckingham Palace

Top rim: Marked “B.W. & M. Ltd. Mansfield No. 812539 – Made in England”

These tins were produced in limited quantities and gifted to commemorate the coronation—a significant event that followed the dramatic abdication of Edward VIII. Unlike the more common Oxo or Huntley & Palmer’s tins, this design stands out for its refined portraiture, delicate architecture scenes, and historical value.

CONDITION ☞
Good vintage condition with authentic age-related wear. Surface oxidation, small areas of rust spotting (mostly on one portrait side), and some fading as shown. Interior shows some staining. Despite this, the images remain clear and the tin is structurally solid. Displays beautifully and offers genuine period charm. Please review all photos carefully. Please see photos.
