FOR SALE â Signed Kaufman studio art glass vase with cobalt interior and sculptural iridescent pod form
DESCRIPTION â
A stunning hand-blown studio art glass vessel signed âKaufmanâ on the base and strongly attributed to Canadian glass artist Marty Kaufman, long associated with Alberta's contemporary glass scene.
This piece features Kaufmanâs unmistakable sculptural vocabulary: an organic, asymmetrical pod-like form with a jagged carved rim, a deep cobalt-blue interior, and a soft matte/iridescent exterior. Swirls of gold, lavender, green, smoky blue, and blush drift across the surface, while pale blue and white trails wrap the body in flowing abstract lines. The contrast between the glossy interior and the satin exterior gives the entire vessel a luminous presence.
The style is highly consistent with Kaufmanâs well-known âerodedâ and âpodâ formsâworks that explore organic geometry, fractured openings, and complex surface treatments. The Calgary provenance of this piece further strengthens the attribution.
This vessel displays beautifully from every angle. Whether shown as a standalone sculptural object or used to hold dried florals, branches, or air plants, it makes a striking statement in any modern or eclectic interior. A fantastic opportunity for collectors of Canadian studio glass.
(Stone seen in photos used for display only and is not included.)
Marty Kaufman is an established Canadian studio glass artist whose sculptural vesselsâparticularly his carved, asymmetrical âpodâ formsâare widely collected. Works of similar scale and complexity typically retail through galleries and art centres in the $1,900â2,750 CAD range. This signed example, sourced in Calgary near the artistâs studio base, represents an exceptional opportunity for collectors of contemporary Canadian glass.
