Vintage Phillips 66 5 Gallon Oil Can Advertising Tin, Garage Decor from Phillips Petroleum Company
DESCRIPTION â
Offered here is a striking vintage Phillips 66 âProductsâ oil can, an iconic piece of mid-century American petroliana. This rectangular 5-gallon tin was produced by the Phillips Petroleum Company and is most likely from the late 1940s to early 1950s, based on the streamlined shield logo and bold commercial graphics. Earlier versions used blockier typography and simpler can forms, while this design reflects postwar branding trends and improved manufacturing techniques.
Featuring the classic Phillips 66 shield logo over bold red and white stripes, this piece of garage history boasts both grit and graphic appeal. The vibrant faceplate with its clean typography and bold logo offers instant nostalgia, while the heavily aged metal casing and patina across all sides adds authentic character for any collector of vintage gas station memorabilia or industrial decor.
Whether displayed in a man cave, auto shop, or as part of a petroliana collection, this oil can stands tall as a genuine survivor of Americaâs highway heyday. CONDITION â
Good vintage condition with honest wear consistent with age. The can is structurally sound with no major dents or holes. Very slight dent on one corner. Rust and oxidization present throughout, especially on the back and bottom panels, giving it a richly aged patina. The painted Phillips 66 front panel is vibrant but shows surface wear and some scratches (see photos). Lid and cap are intact and secure. Do you accept returns?
For EU & UK buyers: As required by consumer law, most online purchases can be cancelled within 14 days of delivery. Certain exceptions apply (antiques, collectibles, items sold âfor parts/repairâ). Buyer pays return shipping, and refunds are issued only after the item is received and verified in its original condition.
For buyers outside the EU/UK (e.g. USA, Canada): All sales are considered final. Returns are not accepted except in cases of significant misrepresentation.Do you accept exchanges?
No. All of our items are considered one-offs and unique so we can not offer exchanges at this time.
Will I have to pay extra customs or duty fees if Iâm in the U.S.?
We ship all U.S. orders using the most reliable method available. Some items (especially antiques over 100 years old or U.S.-made goods) are tariff-exempt under current rules. For other items, we do our best to pre-pay duties and include them in the price (known as DDP â Delivered Duty Paid) so what you see at checkout is what youâll pay.
What does âDDPâ mean?
DDP stands for Delivered Duty Paid. It means we take care of the customs paperwork and fees on our end whenever possible. That way, your package clears the border smoothly and you wonât get a surprise bill on delivery.
Are there any exceptions?
Most antiques and U.S.-made vintage items ship duty-free. European pieces are usually covered by DDP (we pre-pay the duty and build it into the price). Canadian-made vintage can sometimes carry higher tariffs; in those rare cases, weâll either adjust the listing price to reflect the duty or let you know up front if extra charges could apply. If you have any concerns regarding tariffs, please message us prior to purchase and we would be happy to do some research for you!
What happens if customs does charge extra?
Weâre transparent about this from the start: buyers are responsible for any customs/import fees that may apply. That said, we always do our best to minimize the risk by using the right codes and carriers. If you have questions about a specific item, message us before checkout and weâll give you an honest answer about what to expect.
