FOR SALE ☞ 1960s Green Textured A-Line Dress By Anne Klein Junior Sophisticates of New York

DESCRIPTION ☞ Move over Joan Holloway! This kelly green textured number by Anne Klein is sure to make heads turn. Button down and darted bust, easy to button and unbutton. V-neckline front and back. Snap button holders on underside of shoulders to keep your bra straps neatly in place. Would be a great day-to-night. Just pair with a sharp blazer and you're all set for signing that important paperwork in the afternoon and cocktails after dark.

"Junior Sophisticates, a company that transformed the type of clothes aimed at younger (or “junior size”) women, infused their designs with a more sophisticated, less frilly look. By doing away with the “buttons and bows” girlish trend that epitomized most junior clothing and replacing it with more streamlined options that were eminently affordable, Anne Klein foreshadowed the major impact that her namesake company would have on women’s fashion in general.

By the 1950s, a typical Anne Klein design would feature a sheath shape, with evening clothes in sleek satin rather than tulle, and straight skirts rather than puffy crinolines. Her innovative suits featured blazers cut as peacoats, while her jacket-and-dress designs might feature a low-waisted dress with a pleated bottom paired with a simple matching jacket. As the head of her own fashion house by the 1960s, Anne Klein concentrated on a style of separates dressing that would revolutionize both day and evening wear, especially for working women." - From Bloomsbury Fashion Central

This dress was found in an estate sale, wrapped up in clothing bags where it had been packed away and stored since the early 70s. More vintage 50s/60s dresses and outfits are available and will be posted on our etsy store in the coming weeks... stay tuned!

SIZING ☞ No sizing provided on dress, so best guess is this would fit a modern size 6. Fabric has a slight bit of stretch to it but must be slipped over the head for wider hips. More measurements and photos available upon request. Model measurements are 34"-28"-41" and 32B for reference (please note that this dress was a bit tight at the hips for 41" but still loose up top for a 32B)

**Please be sure to check your own measurements and sizing prior to purchase! Keep in mind that vintage clothing can sometimes fit a bit different than modern clothing. Feel free to message us and ask questions prior to purchase! We are not responsible for any items of clothing that do not fit you 100%. This item is final sale!**

CONDITION ☞ This dress is 50+ years old and is NOT new. Expect some slight flaws and quirks in the fabric, stitching and pattern. Dress has been recently laundered but still has a vintage scent that may or may not fade with time.

Some loose threads from fabric but not noticeable when worn. Fabric will run in warm water, so either dry clean or hand wash delicate in cold water only!

No other flaws, major rips, tears or repairs to note. Please see photos. Color may differ slightly in real life from how it appears on your screen due to varying monitor settings.
