RCMP Issued Purse First Women's Uniform Service Purse with Built in Holster (Obsolete Issue)

FOR SALE ☞ Royal Canadian Mounted Police Women's Uniform Service Purse (mid 1970s)

DESCRIPTION ☞ This rare and obsolete style purse was issued to the very first women RCMP officers in the mid 1970s. Sold by original and sole owner from her retired uniform collection. Black leather, no labels, made in Italy. Has deep pockets inside, one with a zipper and of course, spots for a service revolver, ammunition and handcuffs.

"The first RCMP uniform for women brought several challenges including pumps and trying to pull a revolver from a special holster inside a purse. Fortunately, common sense prevailed and the first troop of women were soon issued a duty belt with a holster. They continued to carry the purse for a while though there was nowhere else to keep handcuffs and a notebook. DIMENSIONS ☞ Approximately 11 inches in length, 8.5 inches tall.

CONDITION ☞ Like new, gently used. Some wear around the edges of the purse. Leather is still quite stiff. Please see photos.
