DESCRIPTION ☞ This copy of Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen is a first edition for the publisher John C. Winston Co. as stated inside the cover. In 1948, famous author W. Somerset Maugham selected Pride & Prejudice as one of the top ten greatest novels in the world as stated on the back of the book. With the belief that more people would read the classics if they weren't so long-winded, Maugham has edited and condensed Ms. Austen's novel for a more "modern reader" of the time. The book features line drawings and full color paintings throughout by Douglas Warner Gorsline.

An interesting glimpse of the Regency era, shown through the eyes of an author from our more recent past. Surely, it is must-have for any Austen collector!

DIMENSIONS ☞ Book measures approximately 9" by 6"

CONDITION ☞ Dust jacket has wear and some very slight tears as shown in the photos. Inside, the pages are free of foxing or discoloration. Spine has been broken but is not loose. Please see photos.
